I’m Having Fun on Twitch
For the past week I’ve been streaming on Twitch pretty much every day and uploading the videos to youtube. I started a series called “First Life Problems.” The name was originally a joke I made up with my friends. They would TR and I would want to join them but I didn’t have a character ready to TR yet so I would make a new character. I would end up leveling too quick and be higher level but less powerful so I would say “Ya know, first life problems” as a play on the saying “First World Problems.”
Here are some thing’s I’ve learned. Playing as an experienced player, the game isn’t as hard as being a newbie (duh) but it’s still not a cake walk. Although I’ve died a few times in combat traps are what do me in most of the time (pure paladin’s lack of evasion makes it slightly difficult). The thing that really made the difference are guild buffs. I joined a PUG and the leader of the group noticed that I had no guild so offered me a spot. I debated for a second thinking that joining a guild would be against the spirit of the experiment but then I realized that there’s nothing stopping a first life character from joining a guild. I joined the guild and the ship buffs were a great help. I’m able to break explosive barrels without almost dying and with some careful game play I can run through traps again.
The biggest thing that I’ve learned is that I enjoy streaming. The interaction with people watching is fun! I think I’ve even convinced a person who was on the edge deciding whether or not to play to start and he even subscribed to VIP. I did tell him that he didn’t have to, that he could try it free and even, with enough playing, get pretty much everything free. I guess he liked watching me play and that was enough.
After I hit level 20 on this play through I’m thinking about doing a different experiment. I have two things on my mind. “Quest to 100% Quests” or “Gimped Life.” With quest to 100% I would be trying to do every quest that is available individually and posting them on youtube as a base “How To” series. This might be a bit of a challenge because I haven’t even done all quests yet. (still need to play Twilight Forge raid and quests, Cannith raids and a bunch of other things). Gimped Life would be a level 1-20 play through with random class choice. I would randomly pick first class then every level roll to see what class I play next. (some combos wouldn’t work with the rules of the game so no Barbarian/Paladins) Once I hit three classes I’d roll which of those three I’d level to next. This could be very difficult but I think it’d be fun. Comment on Facebook or tell me on twitch which you’d think would be more fun to watch!
Here’s one of my latest play through’s. A few heroic Three Barrel Cove Quests! Be sure to subscribe. I put up a new video almost every day.
