I’ve been playing DDO for about 5 years now and in that time I’ve gotten pretty familiar with the current enhancement system. I still remember on my first character, a ranger, someone asking me if I was a Tempest or an Arcane Archer. I was flabbergasted. I had no idea what he was talking about. He then explained the system and from that moment on all the classes became crystal clear.
Since then I’ve done a bunch of experimentation with multi-classes. Some of them good and some of them complete failures. The great thing about DDO is that with the failures you can True Reincarnate them and basically start over again. One of my current failures (Rogue 13/Bard 6/Fighter 1) I’m going to TR.
I’m a pretty slow player. I don’t think I could every be a completionist. I’m very ADHD with characters. If a guildie pops on and he’s working on a character that’s not in the level range I’m working on I switch over to help him/her out. I’m happy to do it after all, this is a social game. If I see an LFM up for something that looks fun I’ll switch and do it.
Here’s my “dilemma:” Do I TR now into a multi-class and risk my build being broken or do I hold off until the new updates come out?
I’ve read a little on the wiki about the new updates and from what I gather it looks interesting. Some people that have tested it on Lamannia are all DOOOOM about it but it’s still in an Alpha phase and a lot can change. Even if it doesn’t change, I suspect that after the initial shock of it wears off DDO will be business as usual.
I think I’ll just TR and if my character is broken I’ll just get to 20 and TR or LR. Unless that gets messed up….(some people I know still don’t have their Epic Destiny XP back)
